LINE SPACING
The tags <p> </p> and <br/> are used for line spacing in HTML.
<p> is used for paragraphs. It is used as a double carriage return. example: <p>This is the first paragraph.</p><p>This is the second paragraph.</p>
This is what the paragraph should look like.
This is the first paragraph.
This is the second paragraph.
*note* Always close the <p> tag with </p> to avoid problems with different browsers.
<br/> stands for break. It brings the line around to the next line. It is used as a single carriage return or a single press of the enter key. example: This is the first line.<br/>This is the second line.
This is how the above sentences should appear.
This is the first line.
This is the second line.
To center text use the <center> </center> tags. example:<center>Some text here.<br/>Some text on the 2nd line</center>
This is what the text should look like.
Some text here. Some text on the 2nd line.
To line text against the right side of the screen you can use the <p align="right"> </p> tags. example:<p align="right">Some text here.</p><p align="right">More text.</p>

More text.
Note how using the </p> tag still causes double spacing.
There are several other ways of creating layouts but this should be enough to get started.
Colors
The simplest way to create font color is to do the following: <font color="TheNameOfSomeColor">Type your text here.</font>
If you are going to use color names you should stick to simple names such as red, yellow, and blue. example:<font color="green">Type your text here.</font>
The above example should look like this. Type your text here.
Not all browsers show colors the same. If possible use a hexadecimal number.
Using an hexadecimal number with the font color tag would appear like this: <font color="#008000">Type your text here.</font>

Font Size
To change the font size use the following tag: <font size="SomeNumber">Type your text here.</font>
The numbers usually range from 1 to 7. example:<font size="5">Type your text here.</font>
The above sentence should appear like this. Type your text here.
Special Tags
To make your text bold do the following: <b>Type your text here.</b>
To make your text italic do the following: <i>Type your text here.</i>
To give your text a typewriter appearance do the following: <tt>Type your text here.</tt>
To put a picture on a webpage the following is needed:
<img src="picture.jpg">
or
<img src="http://www.someplace.com/somePic.gif">
The difference comes from where the image is located.
If the webpage and picture are in the same folder then just use the picture name.
When an image is being posted somewhere seperate then the full URL is needed.
(example: auctions, message boards)
To create a link that opens in the same window use the following tag
<a href="http://www.someplace.somewhere.com">Text you see.</a>
To make a link that opens in a new window add target="_blank" to the tag. example:<a href="http://www.someplace.somewhere.com" target="_blank">link</a>
To make a horizontal divider use the following code: <hr/>

To make the divider smaller do the following:
<hr width="some percentage">
To make the divider thicker use:
<hr size="some number of pixels">
Changing the color of the horizontal rule is similiar to changing font color.
<hr color="name of color or hexadecimal number">
example:
Lets make the divider half the width of this page, 15 pixels thick, and red. The tag would be:
<hr width="50%" size="15" color="red">
